As chemistry teachers we behave as if atoms and molecules are just like all the stuff we know from everyday life. We carefully avoid making students familiar with the ‘other-worldliness’ of the realm of molecules, atoms and particles. We feel no need to cross the bridge between the macro and the micro world. Is this because we do not know how to do it convincingly?
